Youth Rights Trainers are highly skilled young people with experience of the UK immigration or asylum systems, who design training courses and co-deliver our training programme.
Each youth rights trainer has been through an accreditation scheme, has been awarded a Gateway award in Peer Rights, and is a highly skilled member of staff.

The youth rights trainers design and run two courses – introduction to the immigration system and access to education (details below). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are currently working on delivery of these courses, as well as involvement of our trainers in our other courses.
An introduction to the rights of children and young people in the immigration system
An introduction to the rights of children and young people in the immigration system aims to give an overview of children’s rights to non-legal professionals who work with children and young people. The course will cover the basics of asylum, immigration and nationality law, finding a lawyer and legal aid. It will look at the rights of children in families as well as separated children.
Access to education for more migrant children
This training session is designed to give an overview of legal entitlements and issues surrounding access to education for children and young people who are within the immigration or asylum systems. Education at all levels will be covered: compulsory education (primary and secondary school), ESOL, college and university.
