Coram Children’s Legal Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Rosalyn Akar Grams as the new head of our Legal Practice Unit. Rosalyn succeeds Noel Arnold, who held the position for the last seven years.
Rosalyn is an experienced solicitor specialising in asylum, immigration and human rights cases and is an accredited supervisor under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme.
Rosalyn has acted for clients throughout the asylum process from the initial application stage through to the appeal stages, right up to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. She also has significant experience bringing judicial review challenges.
Prior to joining Coram Children’s Legal Centre, Rosalyn was the Interim National Manager of the Medico-Legal Reports Service and permanent Manager of the Legal Advice and Welfare Service at Freedom from Torture. In 2017, she was shortlisted for Human Rights Lawyer of the Year at the Law Society Excellence Awards for her work promoting the rights of survivors of torture going through the asylum system and securing access to justice.
The LPU is staffed by solicitors, trainee solicitors and paralegals who support vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers across four areas of law: community care, immigration and asylum, education and discrimination, and family law. The LPU has legal aid contracts in each of its areas of law and most of its cases are funded by legal aid. It is a certified member of the Law Society’s Lexcel accreditation scheme, for demonstrating excellence in legal practice management and client care.
